The Puzzle of the Perfectly Paved Path

An Introduction to App Intents

The Case of the Crimson Test Suite

"The Puzzle of the Perfectly Paved Path" is an introduction to App Intents.

AppIntents are the way to connect your app to Apple system services. It's how you integrate with Siri, Spotlight, Shortcuts, Widgets, and Apple Intelligence.

AppIntents can open your app and navigate to specific views or perform actions while your app isn't even running. You'll learn to create intents and accept user input using Parameters. You'll represent aspects of your app's model with AppEnums and AppEntities and perform a variety of queries. You'll retrieve information from the app and allow users to modify it or create more without starting the app. You'll create workflows in the Shortcuts app, take advantage of Apple Intelligence, and expose your app's capabilities to Siri and Spotlight.

Requires Xcode 27 and Swift 6.4.
